    to do

    1. find wysiwyg editor for html for the core logic docu. currently (Thu 25-Aug-1994 11:52:46) 2 prongs:

      1. test out wysiwyg for mw word

      2. html faq from university of michigan. good source of editors. several emacs could be promising. no vms or source wysiwyg.

help what's new, couldnt get & same as "What's New With NCSAMosaic" Tue 16-Aug-199415:01:57. this one seems most promising. Wed 24-Aug-1994 09:49:59 it got me A new HTML editor, ANT_HTML.DOT (ftp) , which is a Word for Windows template designed to convert Word documents into HTML document in a WYSIWYG environment. The template also permits conversion of any ASCII file and editing of previously prepared HTML documents.

      3. wysiwyg for vms

other possible avenues in the wysiwyg domain

      1. i'm looking for a page about general news on the mosaic or www or html front.

      2. dave suggested there was something in one of the "how to put your stuff on the web" type documents.

      3. a wais server? like WAIS Starting Point (see also to do item go to wais ). tried several times including 19-aug.

      4. tried NCSA Mosaic Web Index and i got the could not access message, Mon 15-Aug-1994 13:17:54. again couldnt access Tue 16-Aug-1994 15:01:48. again Tue 23-Aug-1994 11:12:44.

      5. maybe try some of the mosaic help options. like help about, help on html.

      6. some of these other mosaic help options might yield something if i ever get thru.

        1. tried help on html, but i coudlnt get there and it's the same as "A Beginner's Guide to HTML." Tue 16-Aug-1994 15:01:57.

        2. and help about , but i coudlnt get there either and it's the same as "About NCSA Mosaic for the X Window System" Tue 16-Aug-1994 15:01:57.

        3. and help manual , which i also didnt get to and which also has a pseudonym in "NCSA Mosaic for X Documentation" Tue 16-Aug-1994 15:01:57.

      7. i'm trying NCSA Mosaic Frequently Asked Questions . it's in About NCSA Mosaic for the X Window System . it looks promising. especially Other Mosaic/WWW Software - Pointers to software of interest to Mosaic/WWW users: HTTP servers, HTML editors/converters, Mosaic external viewers, etc. this path seemed productive, but the subtitle of "converters and editors" unfortunately did not include any wysiwyg editors.

      8. also the NCSA News and Announcements page might have something. tried 19-aug. see the ncsa news entry under links - web w3 www mosaic - other

    2. set up server for target? see the Reuse group's ( link to their www stuff ) Installation on VAX/VMS . tried to access Tue 16-Aug-1994 16:00:17 and couldnt.

    3. mosaic & html learning

      1. mosaic

        1. find specific resource names.

          • hotlist window size.

          • hotlist window location

          • longer window history

          • longer global history - it's at 90 now, near as i can tell

        2. mail command

        3. when you follow a #name link, i'd like to set a parameter to show 5 lines before the link dest as opposed to zero lines now.

      2. html

        1. get more space after a period, maybe.

        2. how do i brose directories? ie, given a URL, how do i see what other files are in that dir?

        3. how do i do a comment in html?

        4. how do i do underlines, w/o the anchor, logically, not physically, as w/ a book title. i see some publications marked using <i> (like in What's New With NCSA Mosaic ) .

        5. figure out how, or if it's possible, to get sublists as other than arabic numerals. i'd like capital & lowercase letters, capital & lowercase roman numerals

    4. from The World-Wide Web Virtual Library: Games and Recreation, Bicycling .

    5. from mosaic demo docu , under experimental/advanced, movies. see them. the references below must be prepened w/ some form of http://www.ncsa.uiuc.edu/demoweb/demo.html/ . 12-Aug-1994: i tried and i didnt have access.

these are from The World-Wide Web Virtual Library: Subject Catalogue

    6. find interesting stuff. tried cern's usenet or interenet Newsgroups but this was a list of newsgroups which then forked news, which doesnt exist on osf or vms. and it didnt contain the really interesting stuff. Wed 24-Aug-1994 20:04:44 also tried ncsa's ftp sites or FTP Interface but it had only a limited list of newsgroups. seems i need to get the ftp locations of archived newsgroups. mosaic does seem to do the ftp thing, even tho it doesnt do the newsgroup thing. see also already learned info on ftp sites

    7. check out The Best of the Web '94 Awards .

    8. christianity / religion

    9. from mosaic demo docu , go to the arts section - like vatican library.

    10. make my "go to..." in these to do's links to the things. view source of internet starting points to get.

    11. from mosaic demo docu , clinton's buget on line.

    12. go to WAIS Starting Point in Starting Points for Internet Exploration . 13-Aug-1994 or before: i did. i think you then have to pick a particular wais server. perhaps each one accesses the same stuff? see also to do item wysisyg wais

    13. maybe make my own page available?

      • with some of my coolest images?

    14. go to CyberNet - alternative - in Starting Points for Internet Exploration

    15. answer that movies question w/ my newsgroup url

    16. visit ncsa's FTP Sites list and go to some arbitrary site. see also already learned info on ftp sites .

    17. make all my gif's available thru mosaic for me. low prio. since i can just xv them.

    18. figure out forms stuff so i can add to this list in mosaic, w/o editing the html source. from A Beginner's Guide to HTML, Fill-out Forms Overview . now, 15-Aug-1994, i'm thinking that wysiwyg is a better choice.
