You Can Help The Hunger Site Find Sponsors
The more sponsors The Hunger Site has, the more food people are able to give each day. You can help us find more sponsors by letting interested companies know about The Hunger Site. We will provide you with the facts of sponsorship below. You can simply print out this page and take it to the appropriate people at your company to see if they are interested.
About Sponsoring The Hunger Site
We believe that The Hunger Site is one of the best media buys on the Internet for the following reasons:
Pricing
Each sponsor for The Hunger Site pays 0.5 cents for each donation made at the site, which buys one quarter cup of food. So if there are four sponsors for a day, their combined support will provide one cup of food per each donation made. If there are five sponsors, their combined support will provide a cup and a quarter of food per each donation made, and so on. The cost of 0.5 cents per donation makes for a cost per thousand donations (CPM) of $5 for each sponsor. Sponsors are sent a billing statement showing the total donations for the days that they have sponsored. They write a check directly to the United Nations World Food Program for the amount that is due. They do not pay anything to The Hunger Site. A duplicate copy of each billing statement is sent to the United Nations World Food Program.
We encourage companies to try a one-day test sponsorship to see how cost-effective it can be for them. Based on our current number of 300,000 to 400,000 donations per weekday, the total cost to sponsor us for one weekday is currently $1,500 to $2,000 (300,000 to 400,000 times 0.5 cents per donation). Saturdays and Sundays usually have about half the donations and cost about half as much as weekdays.
Since all this can be a little confusing, here is an example. Suppose that you want to sponsor us for 7 days. First, check with us to make sure that the days you want to sponsor are still open. Then e-mail us the banner ad you want to use and the URL it will link to (see below for specifications). Now suppose that there are 300,000 donations on the first day that you are sponsoring. (The exact number will be posted the next day on our Donation Totals page.) We will then send you a billing statement for 300,000 donations x 0.5 cents = $1,500. You write a check for that amount and send it to the UN World Food Program, whose address is on the bill. That is all you pay, and that is all there is to it.
Please note that we have also established a limit on the maximum number of donations that you pay for on any one day unless we receive your permission otherwise. This limit is 150% of the largest day in the last 30 days as listed on our Donation Totals page. For instance, if the largest day in the last 30 days was 300,000 donations, then the most that you pay for is 450,000 donations. This is to protect you in case there is an unexpectedly large number of donations on the day that you are sponsoring. (This has never happened, as our growth has always been fairly gradual, but we want you to have peace of mind.)
Banner Specifications
If your company is interested in sponsoring The Hunger Site, please contact us at sponsor@thehungersite.com. All we need to set you up as a sponsor is your banner advertisement and the URL you want it to link to, usually your home page. Banner advertisements should be a gif file, 120 wide x 60 high pixels, under 6K in file size, non-blinking, and in keeping with the tone of the site. We will not run advertisements that the people who come to our site, our other sponsors, or the United Nations World Food Program would find objectionable.
Thank you for your support in helping us find more sponsors. We appreciate it.
